MID-WEEK RIDE AND EASTER SUNDAY
SUNDAY 24 APRIL AND WEDNESDAY 27 APRIL 2011
Impromptu ride Easter Sunday 2011
A bigger turnout than expected 10 riders out for the ride to Catforth. Setting off through Horwich the sun was starting to appear, the group split at Lever Park the A riders choosing to ride via the park, while the B riders excluding Maurice bore right at the Millstone, after crossing the Blackburn Road we rejoined the A6 here we reformed into one group again, all 10 of us together.
Stopped off at Avenham Park cafe for a comfort stop, by nowthe sun had really got his hat on, it was a beautiful day.
Lunch alfresco at Billington's Craft Centre, a long leisurely break.
Home via the lanes from Penwortham via Midge Hall to Eccleston.
68 miles back at Walkden.
Mid-week ride - Wednesday 27 April 2011
A chilly morning at the Beehive, the usual suspects out with the welcome addition of Clive, Peter Lane was scheduled to meet us at Rufford.
Route out passing the Diving Club through the lanes across Rickety Bridge, at Rufford the group split, three going to The Marina Cafe, while the rest of us sat outside at Fettler's, which as expected was crowded with cyclists.
Some really expensive looking Dolan bikes, the riders all kitted out as team Dolan, they said their training ride was from Liverpool out across the Trough then down the A6/A59 back to Liverpool, a 100 mile circuit done twice a week.
Speechless!!
Home on auto pilot, by mid morning it had warmed up and was a great day.
58 miles back at Walkden. Report by Peter Moore
