MID-WEEK RIDE - TREBARON

WEDNESDAY 16 MARCH 2011

Trebaron, is not as some have commented in Wales it is a Garden Centre at Newton le Willows, we found it by accident a couple of winters ago.

Five regular riders at Four Lane Ends for the ride, we had half expected to see some Tints riders but none showed up.

A nice morning only a light wind with no rain forecasted, Spring really is coming.

Default route overWarburton Bridge, a shop drink stop at Hollins Green. We decided that as there had been no rain since Sunday, we would try the Trans Pennine Trail, this runs parallel to the main road through Lymm avoiding the traffic and busy village centre.

Back onto the road at Thelwall, where we crossed over the Manchester Ship Canal by means of Latchford Lock gates followed the road along the eastern edge of Warrington before riding via Padgate and Warrington New Town up to Winnick.

Turned right at the church for the short ride down to Trebaron.

After a long leisurely lunch made even longer by being given a complimentary slice of fruit cake, compliments of the Chef, a fellow cyclist from Wilmslow, it was back in the saddle for the short ride home.

Ray and Neil turned off at Howe Bridge for the climb up into Westhoughton while three rode on through Atherton for the dreaded Firs Brew.

A nice day, good weather, wind a bit chilly on the return leg and good company.

48 mile back at Walkden
