MID-WEEK RIDE - JJ's DINER
WEDNESDAY 13 JULY 2011
Arriving at the Crofters at 9.15 low and behold yet another back wheel puncture, not the best start.
Soon fixed, with four regular riders we left on time for our ride up the Rossendale Valley, just for a change we were riding into a steady headwind, but the weather was good. We chose to follow the main road for a change as well as the challenge of riding out of Crawshawbooth, it doesn't get any easier.
Arrived at JJ's after a reasonably fast ride, as usual it was beans on toast all round, with one nameless greedy person adding an egg. Our beans on toast rating system established that on the day it was a 7.5, very good.
Chose the main road again, the climb with wind assist didn't seem too bad, fast descent in Rawtenstall, Tesco for the comfort break, then home via the Rossendale Valley.
Coming down Bradshaw just keep a careful eye open, there are some substatial potholes.
Riders all split up at Crompton Way.
Back at Walkden 47 miles, a good day and NO RAIN again !!! Report by Peter Moore
