MID-WEEK RIDE - JJ'S

WEDNESDAY 9 MARCH 2011

A terrible day for riding, but four intrepid riders turned out for the JJ's ride. We went via the main road, Ray prefers this way, on the outward leg we had more or less a tail wind, with the added bonus of rain, hailstones and sun. we managed JJ's in less than 2 hours, so we must have been doing something right. Riding down towards the traffic lights was VERY dangerous we had a strong cross wind, very hairy.

After the obligatory beans on toast we turned immediately left up the hill, which is longer than I remember, we did have a bit of wind assist, but after regrouping at the top it was into the wind, riding down towards Waterfoot into this wind was very hard work, no 30 mph descents today.

By the time we got to Rawtenstall we were all pretty exhausted and cold. after riding along the Rossendale Valley into the wind at the top of Bradshaw Brew, it was only 38 miles from Walkden, I felt as if I'd ridden twice that distance.

By the time I got home it was just under 48 miles for the day, exhausted. Report by Peter Moore
