RED HOUSE FARM - WEDNESDAY RIDE

16 NOVEMBER 2011

A dull cold morning with the prospect of it brightening but not getting much warmer.

Five of us at Four Lane Ends, riding down Firs Brew was a treat no dropped grids/manholes no potholes just smooth even tarmac, wonderful, it was however very chilly.

This cold weather forced a toilet stop at the Victorian urinal on Holden Road, then it was off riding into a steady head wind following the default route to Hollins Green, where once again the invitation to use the facilities was accepted, what good community spirit this shows, clearly part of Cameron's big society.

Up over the bridge then it was Red House, in just about 90 minutes from Four Lane Ends. We were the only customers, must be the recession never seen it empty before.

Retraced our route back home except that the 3 Walkden riders turned at Leigh to ride home via Astley and Little Hulton.

A good day's riding 39 miles back at Walkden.
