B RIDE - CRANAGE
13 MARCH 2011
Woke up again to hear the rain dripping onto the windowsills, the forecast was pretty clear that the rain would stop and the day improve. Well it has to happen sometime.
Only myself at the Town Hall with very few A group riders, i knew that at least one more regular B group rider would be at Four Lane Ends.
After a solo ride over Daub Hill I dropped down to Four Lane Ends to find Ray waiting in the bus shelter, by now the rain had virtually stopped, we waited a few minutes to see if we had any more riders.
Then it was the default route to Hollins Green, a brief stop here, it's interesting to see just how they are progressing with the pond they are digging behind the pub, they seem to getting on very fast now.
Over the bridge, up Broomedge then via the lanes before crossing Chester Rd, then followed the Long wall route in to Knutsford.
Cranage, or rather The Spinney Motor caravans is just 6 miles beyond Booths Supermarket, it is on the A50 2 miles before Holmes Chapel.
No beans this morning!! the sausage barmcakes were good value as well being tasty. After lunch it was really sunny, but still cold. Lots of cyclists in the cafe including a bunch from Leigh Prem.
Returned via Goosetrey and the lanes, through Peover Superior, this village could only be in Cheshire, before rejoining the A50 for the last couple of miles into Knutsford. Then it was home on auto pilot.
Only the two us, but we had a good day out 71 miles back at Walkden. Report by Peter Moore
